Lap An Lagoon, located within Lang Co Bay, Phu Loc district of the central province of Thua Thien – Hue, is an 800 ha brackish water lagoon and a favorite destination for photographers, especially in the late afternoon. The Lap An Lagoon is infamous for its plentiful marine resources and diversified ecosystem, thanks partly to a large area of mangrove forests that surround and protect it.
Lap An Lagoon is famous for its poetic beauty of clouds reflected in water. The ideal time of the day to discover Lap An Lagoon is at sunset.
Lap An Lagoon is an 800 hectare area with the curving road around the lagoon like a soft band of silk. The clean blue water surface reflects mountains, clouds and sky, and the lagoon has become a popular destination for photographers and explorers.
At present, the lagoon is used to raise and process oysters, which brings income for residents.
Besides the romantic natural scenery, Lap An Lagoon is also the habitat for many animals and aquatic plants, mostly oysters. Oysters have high nutritional value and many uses, so they are greatly favored by visitors. The local people consider oysters as “jewel of heaven” and live mainly by feeding oysters.
The best time to admire Lap An Lagoon is sunset at Bach Ma Mountain. The scenery at this time is extremely fanciful. The smooth water surface appearing red, yellow, dark blue colors… looks like a colorful silk. Visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy delicious dishes made of oysters, such as oysters steamed with ginger, sweet and sour oysters, tofu stuffed oysters, oyster noodles...
Currently, Lap An Lagoon area has been approved to bea walking street stretching from the lagoon to Nguyen Van Street (Lang Co Town). The walking street includes six zones of tree areas, a water park, performance area, art fountain, food and restaurant, and marina club.
With the poetic natural scenery and tourism service investment plan, Lap An Lagoon is expected to become an attractive tourist site in Thua Thien – Hue Province.
According to local people, the most favourable time for visiting the lagoon is from March to June, with hot summer weather also making it convenient for Lang Co beach travel.
